Trope Tuesday: College Sports Romances: December 2023
Hello my fellow readers, I'm here to bring you my first installment of Trope Tuesday where each month I will be attempting to read books with specific tropes from romance to fantasy to mysteries, and exploring where I feel these books either succeeded or missed the mark, for me, with these tropes.
So two out of three books I ended up reading were Wildcat by Rebecca Jenshak, The Lie by Karla Sorensen, and I DNFed Meet Your Match by Kandi Steiner. I ended up rating Wildcat 3 stars and rated The Lie 2 stars. These books both approached the forbidden romance trope within the college sports romance trope. I thought Wildcat's approach made the main love interests somewhat more likable than the couple in The Lie. I feel like the books were both able to integrate the sports and the romance together well together. I think the issue was I just wasn't in either of the romantic relationships that were going on in each of the books. Meet Your Match just didn't grab me at all. I kept waiting to be invested in the story and it just wasn't happening.I still enjoy college sports romances, these may just not have been the books for me. I'm very excited about next month's edition of Trope Tuesday. I will be focusing on reading different forms of retellings in books.
